A few weeks after giving birth to Josiah, I found out that he had eczema. I panicked and was depressed and stressed. When he cried and scratched his skin, it would break my heart to see him go through this. His skin was so bad to the point where I could not wear perfume as his skin would break out immediately, if I would put him on my chest. After a few months of it getting worst, I decided to try some new products on his skin. I am so happy that I did, because Josiah’s experience prepared me for my second son Jasiel who also has eczema. I have a few things that I would like to talk to you about. These items may help you to not go through what I went through.
*The post is based off of my personal experience as a mother of two.*
All Free and Clear Laundry Detergent
This is the best laundry detergent to use for a newborn, especially if your baby has sensitive skin. Jasiel has sensitive skin and this is the only laundry detergent that I can use to wash his clothes. There are so many other laundry detergents that are cheaper and smell really well, but sometimes cheap is not always good. I have used different products, such as Dreft. Omg! I love the smell of their detergent, but it would always make my son’s skin break out. All free clear is the #1 recommended detergent brands by dermatologists and pediatrics for sensitive skin. Once I read that on the product, I knew it was perfect for my son. I normally purchased this product when it is buy 1 get 1 free and when there are coupons on coupon.com.
Water Wipes
I heard about this brand a few months after I gave birth to my second son. Let me tell you! I am so happy this brand exist. Water wipes is made with purified water and a drop of grapefruit seed extract. These wipes are hypoallergenic, pure, soft, and gentle, which is perfect for babies with sensitive skin as it does not cause irritation.
Vaseline
I highly recommended this product for babies with chafed skin from diaper rash. It is dermatologist tested and has worked wonders for my sons. I use this product on my son’s skin and it gets the job done and make his skin feel smooth and he stays moistured. This product has multiple uses as I also use it in his hair, on his skin, and diaper areas. It’s like an 3 in 1 product for about $5. Isn’t that an awesome price for a 13 oz. jar?
Baby Eurcein Relief Body Creme
I first started using this product for my first son Josiah and now I use it for my 6 month old. This is recommended by dermatologists and pediatricians. It soothes my son’s skin and calms his eczema. Sometimes his eczema does flare up, all I need to do is put some body cream on it and his eczema calms down in one day. It is a fragrance and dye free product with natural oatmeal. The natural oatmeal will help to keep your babies skin from being dry and itchy. I normally contact Eurcein directly by phone, and ask if they can mail me coupons. Most people do not know you can contact them, but you can. They always mail me coupons and it helps out a lot.
Cetaphil Baby Gentle Wash
My sons pediatricians have always recommended me to use Cetaphil for their eczema. I was a bit afraid to use it because it has a smell. I use to think that I could not use fragrance items on their skins. I was wrong! This product is dermatologist tested, hypoallergenic, organic calendula extract and so much more. It also contains ½ baby lotion that leaves my son’s skin feeling so soft. I have never had any problems using the product on my son.
Aveeno Baby Wash & Shampoo
If you are looking for a different product to try, I would recommended this one. This is one product I believe almost every mother knows about. This product always leave my son’s skin feeling and smelling good. It is also tear free and is designed to be gentle on infant’s skin.
Huggies Diapers
When I first opened up the product and felt it, I could not believe how soft it was. I have tried so many other diapers, with my first son and either the diapers were too expensive or would irritate his skin, or leak. I have never had a problem with huggies diapers. I am happy I took a leap of faith and tried these diapers. Also, these diapers are fragrance free, parabens free, and dermatologist tested. They are comfortable and gentle on my son’s skin.
