Do you have a son or daughter that is starting school for the first time? Have you started to prepare yourself and your child? If you have not, then you should read this before starting so you can be fully prepared.
*This post is my opinions and I am hoping it can help you and your family.*
The little cutie in the picture above, is my oldest son Josiah. He is starting pre-k on August 20th and he is so excited while I am a nervous wreck. A few weeks ago, I started to prepare my family. Yeah, I know I should have started sooner, but it was hard. Having two boys, being a wife is a lot of work and sometimes it gets really hard to balance out everything. I was committed to making this family change and to be honest I am happy I did. Below are a few things that I started to do, so we can be prepared for next week and for his entire school year.
Prepare A Schedule- I work an 8-5 job during the day and I am so glad that my job is 5 minutes away from my house. As soon as 5pm gets here, I go pick up my sons, head home, and give them bath. Then they eat dinner and then its bedtime. My schedule does not change so my sons are already use the routine. I feel like every family should plan a schedule and stick to it. Also, it is very important to watch the time. I feel like the time goes by really slow when I am at work, and then goes really fast when I am home. Does that happen to you too? If you do not watch the time, your schedule will fall out of place and you will not get everything done.
Prepare Meals – My husband and I started cooking three meals on Sunday. Geesh! That is a lot of work , but it is so worth it. I know some of you do not like leftovers, but our family loves it. Those 3 meals last us for 1 week, because we cook a lot of food. Sometimes we will add something extra like a salad or bread to make the food taste better. Sometimes it gets boring eating leftovers so we spice it up a bit so it looks like a new meal. Once my family gets home, we already have dinner ready. It saves us so much time especially since my 3 year old take 5 years to eat his dinner lol. He is such a slow eater, but I love him to pieces.
Limit Electronics – Josiah loves his tablet, he wants to be on it 24/7. During the day, I allow him to bring it to my mother’s house. As soon as he gets home. It goes on the charger in our guest room so he do not find it. Once Josiah does not have his tablet, he is much more cooperated and gets everything done that he is supposed to. We parents have to do this because children are too attached to their electronics. It is really bad in my house, I will not be surprised if my 5 month old wants at phone this month. Seriously!
Bed Time at 8pm SHARP– When I follow my schedule, it allows my family to be in bed by 8pm. The first couples of days were really difficult for Josiah. We would be in bed at 8pm and he would not go to bed until 10pm. He would toss and turn and I thought he would never get use to our new schedule. In a few days of this transition, he would be sleeping by 8:30pm. Yayy me!! It seems like I am doing a great job! Right?
Prepare Weekly School Clothes – On Sunday, I pick out clothes for my sons for the entire week. Even though Josiah has not started school, he does go to my mother’s house so I am getting a lot of practice. It should be a piece of cake, when he starts school.
