Summer is almost over and the boys haven’t done much. So I decided to do something special for them without spending too much. I wanted to do something different but something that they’ll love. So I decided to have a movie night by making movie night props with my Cricut Explore 3. The boys had no idea, but they knew I wanted to do something that would put a smile on their faces.
So, I’m about to get into all of the details and how our movie night came to life. This project can be made by anyone especially beginners like myself. Once I turned my Cricut Explore 3 on, I connected via Bluetooth. I chose the project that I wanted to create. I usually use designs from the Cricut Design app. The below is the design I used to create a party popcorn bowl. I decided to use the color blue because that’s my boys’ favorite color.
After I choose the design, I added the Smart Vinyl -Permanent (3ft) to my Cricut light grip 12×12 mat, and then let the Cricut Explore 3 start cutting. Once it was finished, I started to cut my transfer tape. I tried to make the tape the same size as the vinyl, just because I wanted to make sure that I didn’t miss any of the letters once I transferred them to the bowl. You’ll need transfer tape so you can transfer the vinyl. The transfer tape size that I’m using is 75 ft, but Cricut has other sizes as well. Plus, you can reuse the transfer tape (That’s actually one of my favorite parts about this project).
Once I cut the transfer tape, I put it to the side and started to weed the vinyl. Weeding is when you remove the unnecessary vinyl from the cut design. Then I put the transfer tape right onto the vinyl. I used an XL scraper to smooth out the bubbles. After that, I put the transfer tape on the popcorn bowl and remove it. The letters transferred smoothly onto the bowl.
We had such a great time creating memories together. The boys are already asking me to make more props with my Cricut Explore 3. This machine is smarter and faster than ever. My project took me less than 30 minutes to complete. I can’t wait to share with you all what else I create. In the meantime, click here to purchase your Cricut Explore 3.
